Biography

Mike has been entertaining audiences in various musical line-ups for over 4 decades - and performed at a broad range of venues including; clubs, arts centres, theatres, universities, cabaret and private functions - sharing the billing with notable acts such as jazz-pop maestro Georgie Fame, along with 60's/70's hit-maker Alan Price, folk-blues innovator John Martyn and the multi-faceted Charlie Dore - famed for her U.S. hit 'Pilot Of The Airwaves' and co-writer of Jimmy Nail's U.K. No.1 'Ain't No Doubt'.

In the 1970’s, Mike was recruited as a session singer at the, now legendary, Surrey Sound Studios – which was cutting its teeth on producing the debut album by The Police - and went on to work with Squeeze and Godley & Creme (10cc) amongst many others.

It had long been Mike’s ambition to become a fully-fledged song-writer and he soon managed to secure a contract with Surrey Sound’s newly-formed publishing arm. Following this, Mike quickly succeeded in landing a number of other publishing deals, one of which was with the world-famous EMI Music Publishing and, during this time, Mike also wrote and had songs published with one of the co-writers of the international million-selling 70’s hit ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’.

During the 1980’s Mike continued to write songs and made recordings with such respected producer/engineers as Gregg Jackman who has worked with Tom Jones, Prince, Cher and Placido Domingo.

Throughout the 90's, Mike entertained audiences as a solo artist - before finally embarking on his latest solo project.

Mike also offers a specially selected set of songs taken from ‘The Roy Orbison & Del Shannon Story’ – tailored for private parties, weddings, anniversaries and landmark birthday celebrations. He accompanies this 45-minute cabaret-style show with a choice of 3 other music-themed sets: ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll’ – classics from 1955 to 1960; 'Reeling In The Years' – containing a string of favourites covering the past 6 decades – and for those special romantic occasions (Valentine’s Day etc.) why not try Mike’s ‘Love Is In The Air’ set – a thoughtful collection of well-known songs with ‘love’ in the title.
